Security & your data

Your workspace.
On your Mac.

Your research lives locally. You choose the services you connect and the information you share.

01 / LOCAL STORAGE

Your work stays with you.

Boards, attachments, conversations, cached sources and generated documents are saved on your Mac. There is no Orb account, central research database or automatic cloud sync.

Your files use your Mac's normal account and disk protections. Orb does not add a separate layer of file encryption.

02 / CREDENTIALS

Keys belong in Keychain.

Provider keys you save in Settings and ChatGPT sign-in credentials use macOS Keychain. They are kept apart from your boards and research files.

Manage your connections in Orb's Settings. Remove a provider connection or sign out of ChatGPT when you no longer want to use it.

03 / YOUR CONNECTIONS

Choose where requests go.

When you ask an AI agent to help, relevant prompts, context and attachments are sent to your chosen AI provider. Web research contacts the search service or websites being read.

Each provider has its own data policies. Connected-site sessions are kept locally, and reading a signed-in page contacts that site.

04 / NO AUTOMATIC UPLOADS

Your research isn't telemetry.

The desktop app has no analytics, automatic crash uploads or background uploads of your boards and logs.

This website uses PostHog analytics cookies only with your permission. Website analytics has no access to your Orb boards, conversations or local files. Change your choice in Cookie settings below.

05 / BUG REPORTS

Share evidence when you choose.

The bug and feature form sends your email, message and selected attachments to orb support through Resend. Nothing is collected from your Mac automatically. Files are handled in memory by the website and emailed to projects.cases@gmail.com.

Common credentials are removed from text logs before sending. Review your evidence: images, PDFs and ZIP files are attached as selected, and automatic redaction cannot catch everything.
