What can I use orb for?
Explore a market, compare vendors, investigate a company, plan a project or understand a new topic. orb helps when you need to pull information together, weigh alternatives and explain a decision.
Do I need a paid search subscription?
You can search the public web without a separate search subscription. Your AI provider's charges or ChatGPT plan limits still apply. Optional paid research tools cost separately.
Can I share what I find?
Yes. Create a research document, presentation or canvas PDF to share your findings. Review the sources and conclusions before sharing, especially when a decision depends on them.
How do I get orb?
orb 0.1.0 runs on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later. Enter your email on the download page and we'll send you the link. The installer is signed and notarised by Apple. Open the DMG, drag orb to Applications, then add a model key or connect an eligible ChatGPT plan in Settings.
Download for MacHow long does research take?
Longer than a chat reply, on purpose. Scout searches and reads sources, Critic checks claims and looks for gaps, and Builder lays out comparisons. A focused question can take a few minutes, and a broad one can take much longer. You can follow progress on the board, answer questions, redirect the agents or stop them at any time. The board saves as you go, so closing orb keeps what has been found.
